FTISLAND’s Minhwan and Yulhee have chosen to break up after five years of marriage.
Youlhee shared the news of their divorce on her Instagram on December 4.
In Yulhee’s post, it says:
Hello, this is Yulhee.
I’m writing this to talk about something pretty heavy with you today. Even though it makes my heart heavy, I want to talk about it directly with all of you who have loved and supported us.
After much time, effort, and discussion, we have decided to support each other on separate paths. Our journey as a couple is over, but our jobs as parents to our kids will never stop. Our kids are being cared for and we are talking to each other as best we can right now.
After giving it a lot of thought, we decided that it would be best for the kids to stay where they were living to deal with real problems and keep their mental health from getting worse. They are now living with their father. In order to make sure they don’t miss their mother too much, I also spend a lot of time with them.
I was really scared about telling you this because I knew it would come as a surprise and confuse you all after all the help you’ve given us. But because this was a tough choice we made for each other’s happiness after a lot of thought, I hope you can keep an eye on us and understand.

Minutes later, FTISLAND’s Minhwan posted the following on Instagram:
Hello, this is Minhwan. I’m sorry to have to meet you again after a while with some pretty bad news.
I’m being careful with this because I had to make a tough choice after giving it a lot of thought. After a lot of thought and talk, my wife and I have decided to end our marriage.
I’m truly sorry for breaking this news to everyone who helped and looked out for us when we chose to start a family at a young age.
Also, I want to thank and deeply apologize to our families, teammates, and fans who cheered us on. As a dad, I’ll do everything I can to live up to my responsibilities and make sure our kids don’t have any mental scars. I will do my best to greet you again soon with good news. Thanks a lot.

Yulhee and Minhwan first stated they were dating in September 2017, and in May 2018 they said they were legally married. After that, in October of that same year, they had a small, private wedding.
