Vincenzo (2021): Story

When Park Joo-hyung (Song Joong-ki) is eight years old, he is taken in by an Italian family. Unfortunately, the family dies in a terrible accident later on. When Joo-hyung joins the crime, Don Fabio, the head of the Cassano Family, takes him in and treats him like a son.

He changes his name to “Vincenzo Cassano” and works as a lawyer for the mafia and as Don Fabio’s right-hand man. Paolo, Fabio’s biological son and the new head of the Cassano family, tries to kill his foster brother after Fabio dies because he is angry that Fabio chose him over his own biological son.

Vincenzo runs away to Seoul and tries to get back the 1.5 tons of gold in the form of Buddha statues that he helped hide in the basement of Geumga Plaza with his recently deceased business partner. He finds out that he needs to tear down the building to get to the gold that is hidden there while he is inspecting it.

But Babel Group, a subsidiary of a big pharmaceutical company, has illegally taken ownership of the building and plans to tear it down and build a business building in its place. Vincenzo doesn’t want the gold to go to the Babel Group, so he has to use his skills to take back the building and get his money back.

The Jipuragi Law Firm, which is run by Hong Yoo-chan (Yoo Jae-myung) and has some strange tenants, is one of them. Vincenzo finds that his goals and those of the firm’s clients are similar.

At first, he has a disagreement with Hong Yoo-chan’s daughter, Hong Cha-young (Jeon Yeo-been), who works for a different law company and defends Babel Group.

It is ordered by Babel’s top lawyer that Hong Yoo-chan be killed in the middle of the street. Cha-young quits her job in a rage, takes over Jipuragi, and teams up with Vincenzo to take down Babel.

It turns out that Hong Yoo-chan was killed because he found out that Babel Group is just a front for a drug gang and left Vincenzo and his daughter some clues to find.

Because Vincenzo knows that normal legal methods can’t work against a big company like Babel, he uses violent Mafia methods to fight the company. For example, he kidnaps and tortures Babel workers for information and sets fire to their drug factory.

He also tries to convince Babel employees who are being mistreated to work with them to destroy the Corporation from the inside. Vincenzo finally figures out a way to get into the gold vault under the building without tearing it down.

Besides the gold, he finds a USB drive that his late business partner left behind. It’s called the “Guillotine file,” and it has evidence against Korean politicians and Babel Group. His partner uses this evidence against both Babel and the politicians who work for them.

The Babel Group learns about the Guillotine file and wants to get a hold of it so they can use it to get a lot of leaders to do what they want.
