Madison Marsh started her journey to become a pilot in the US Air Force when she was 15, right after her junior year of high school. At first, she was interested in flying because she wanted to get into the Air Force Academy so she could have a better chance of becoming a fighter pilot or astronaut.
Over the years, flying helped her feel better and brought her joy. She had to deal with the death of her mother from pancreatic cancer while she was working on this. Because of this, Madison and her family started a charity in their town to help raise money and knowledge for pancreatic cancer.
Marsh is now thinking about a future in cancer research because of her own experience with the disease. She said she was ready to take the next step by using what she had learned at the Kennedy School to learn how complicated it is to make cancer policy.
She used flying as a way to escape the problems in her life. At age 17, she got her license to fly and set her goals on becoming a cadet.
