The South Korean boy band 2AM was started by JYP Entertainment after seeing the Mnet documentary Hot Blood. The members of the band are Jeong Jin-woon, Lee Chang-min, Lim Seul-ong, and Jo Kwon. In contrast to their brother group 2PM, who made music with more dance beats, they mostly sing ballads. The group’s official debut was on KBS’s Music Bank on July 11, 2008, when they played their first song, “This Song.”
The albums and songs that 2AM released did well in the marketplace. They have had several Korean records that have made it into the top ten of the Gaon Album Chart. Their first number one album, I Was Wrong (2010), was the most popular of these.
A number of their singles have reached the top of the Gaon Digital Chart. “Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die,” “You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls,” and “I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me” are some of the songs that have done the best. Also, some of their Japanese songs have made it to the top ten of the Oricon songs Chart.
After leaving JYP and Big Hit, 2AM took a break while its members went on to solo careers and worked for other companies and labels. Their break was longer than planned because most of them had to do military service. After being apart for seven years, the band got back together with their fourth extended play, Ballad 21 F/W (2021).
